Doha International Institute for Graduate Studies Scholarship 2024

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies offers a number of scholarships annually to attract academically qualified students from inside and outside the State of Qatar. The scholarships offered vary, some are granted on the basis of academic merit, and others are based on financial need.

First: General conditions for scholarships

– No student may combine the Institute’s scholarships with any other scholarship, regardless of its source.

– The Institute’s scholarships will only continue to be used by students who enjoy good academic standing. The Institute has the right, in accordance with procedures it determines, to withdraw scholarships from students who violate this condition.

– Students enrolled in executive master’s, diploma or specialized certificate programs do not benefit from the scholarships offered by the Institute. They can benefit from external sponsorship scholarships according to the terms of each scholarship.

Students who have previously benefited from the same scholarships in a previous period of study in any of the Institute’s programmes, whether or not this resulted in obtaining a degree, will not benefit from the scholarships offered by the Institute.

Second: Types of scholarships

1- The scholarship based on academic merit, which is the Tamim Scholarship:

It is a merit-based scholarship and academic excellence; it is dedicated to the most distinguished Qatari and international students in Qatar and the Arab world.

The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees set for students according to each program for Qatari students and residents of the State of Qatar. 

The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees for students according to each program for international students, and its benefits include:

– Covering 100% of tuition fees.

– Covering 100% of the institute’s university housing fees.

– Monthly allowances for the student determined by the institute.

– One round-trip tickets from the country of recruitment and one return ticket to it at the end of the study period.

– Health insurance under the umbrella of the Primary Health Care Corporation for those who prove that they do not have other insurance.

– Students are not entitled to modify scholarship benefits or claim cash allowances for benefits they do not receive.

– The scholarship conditions do not change with the change in the students’ legal status in the State of Qatar except with the approval of the Institute.

– To encourage academic excellence, the Institute may open the door to applying for this scholarship for students of the Institute who have obtained a distinction grade after completing one academic year at the Institute. 

2- The scholarship based on students’ financial need, which is the Sanad scholarship:

It is a scholarship based on the students’ financial need, and is dedicated to Qatari, international and resident students in Qatar.

The scholarship covers from 10% to 100% for Qatari students, according to the following categories:

– Students who do not have jobs, whether in the government, semi-government or private sector, provided that they submit a certificate stating that they are not employed from the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.

– Students who work in private sector institutions that are not included in the institutions approved by the government scholarship program.

The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees for students according to each program for international students, and its benefits include:

– Covering 100% of tuition fees.

– Covering 100% of the institute’s university housing fees.

– Monthly allowances for the student determined by the institute.

– One round-trip tickets from the country of recruitment and one return ticket to it at the end of the study period.

– Health insurance under the umbrella of the Primary Health Care Corporation for those who prove that they do not have other insurance.             

– Students covered by this program are not entitled to modify the scholarship benefits or claim cash allowances for benefits they do not benefit from.

– The scholarship conditions do not change with the change in the students’ legal status in the State of Qatar except with the approval of the Institute.

As for students residing in the State of Qatar

The scholarship covers from 10% to 100% of the tuition fees set for students according to each program:

– Students submit income certificates for themselves and their dependents.

Students who do not have jobs must provide proof of unemployment.

3- Granting external care:

External sponsorship grants link the institute to its external environment, and grants vary according to the donor and their conditions.

Donors, whether governmental or private, may enter into partnership agreements with the Institute to support students accepted into the Institute, in accordance with the terms stipulated in the agreements, without conflicting with admission policies.

Partner institutions may nominate students from among their employees to continue their studies at the Institute and finance their studies as part of developing their skills, according to the agreed terms and conditions, in line with the Institute’s admission policies.

Documents required for application

  • Copy of passport
  • Bachelor’s degree transcript or equivalent. Final year students must submit all transcripts up to the application date.
  • Graduation certificate/statement if the student has already graduated.
  • CV in Arabic.
  • english language:
  • IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent in TOEFL or an official statement from the university that English is the language of instruction during the undergraduate stage.
  • Personal letter of 1000 words.
  • Academic Writing Sample (only for applicants to the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action, and Critical Studies programs).

How to apply

  1. The applicant creates a personal account on the system.
  2. Each applicant is allowed to submit only one application for admission, and repeated applications for more than one program will not be considered.
  3. The applicant can fill out the admission form in several sessions, saving the changes at the end of each session.
  4. The applicant fills out the form and uploads all required documents.
  5. The applicant requests letters of recommendation electronically through the same system.
  6. Recommenders will receive an email that will allow them to access and submit the recommendation form.
  7. The applicant can check the delivery of the letters of recommendation
