Duration of study of Romanian government scholarship

Tuition waiver

 What is the language of study?

In order to promote the Romanian language and culture, beneficiaries of scholarships granted by the Romanian State for Bachelor’s and Master’s studies study only in Romanian. 

The exception is doctoral scholarship holders, who can choose to study in Romanian or in a foreign language determined by the doctoral school. For candidates who do not speak Romanian, a preparatory year of Romanian language study is granted before the actual university studies, except for doctoral scholarship holders who have chosen the form of education in a foreign language determined by the doctoral school.

Romania Scholarship Terms

There are always conditions for registering for the Romanian government scholarship, and you must fulfill these complete conditions, which are:

  • The student applying for the Romanian Government Scholarship must not have Romanian citizenship.
  • You are exempted from the preparatory year if you have previously studied at a Romanian university.
  • You are exempted from attending the Romanian language course if you prove your language proficiency at level B1.

I haven’t finished school, can I enroll without a certificate?

Yes, you need a certificate proving that you are attending the last year of studies and its certified translation in English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if available. You will also need a copy proving your academic record for the last year of studies, up to the moment of submitting the application file, and its certified translation in English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if possible.

Important notes regarding the application

  • Application files sent by mail or directly to the university will not be considered.
  • Incomplete or non-compliant files with the study areas and methodology are considered ineligible and will not be evaluated by the Ministry of Education committee.
  • Files of rejected candidates will not be returned after evaluation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Multinational Ministry committees.

Romanian Government Scholarship Results

The results of the scholarship selection process will be announced via email on July 15 to each candidate who applied for a scholarship.
