The best self-development books

Have you ever thought about starting to enter the world of reading, but you were confused between the many different books and did not know which one suits you and is useful to you?!
If you are already a reader, are you looking for valuable books that are far from myths in the field of human development?
Well, come with me on an enjoyable reading journey in which we learn about the best books in the field of human development.

First: The book of atomic habits

The book Atomic Habits by James Clear is one of the most important human development books, and it had a great influence on many of those who read it.
This book discusses how to acquire or break habits.
The importance of this book stems from its topic. Habits are the mirror of life and its structural unit. If you want to know where your life is headed, all you have to do is look at the nature of your habits.

What the book explains is that the habit has three parts: the signal, the response, and the reward.
Accordingly, he offers a set of tips that help in acquiring habits, which are:

  • Make the signal clear and have a mark in your surroundings to remind you of the habit.
  • Reduce this habit and make it easy and attractive so that you can easily respond to it.

  • Join groups and friends who care about the habit you want to acquire and share with them your steps, achievements, and even pitfalls to help you overcome them.

Second: Book 4, Al-Najah Street

The book 4, Al-Najah Street, by Ihab Fikry, is one of the books that I hope everyone will read, due to its simplicity, usefulness, and containing important principles for every individual who wants to live a successful, balanced life.
The story of this book is that there are four people on the banks of the Nile in the morning, strangers and not at the same time! They know nothing about each other, but just as the dawn and the Nile brought them together, the lack of success and the search for happiness brought them together.

  • Karim, Hamza, Yahya, Mounir
  • Pocket, body, heart, mind

With a comprehensive look at the previous two lines, you find integration and balance, and this is what the four people achieve together and only together.
However, if your gaze falls on each pillar individually, you will certainly realize the extent of the defect that befalls a life that exists only for one thing.

This was the absence of balance in the lives of each of them, which led to the absence of happiness, the absence of success, and the absence of victory.
Our four friends meet with Hakim Al-Masry, who lives and works in his house located at 4 Al-Najah Street, to receive a lecture on his famous theory of balance.

This theory is based on four aspects, each aspect has three elements:

  1. The body (sleep, exercise, food)
  2. Pocket (profession, purchases, budget)
  3. Heart (religion, love, hobby)
  4. Reason (knowledge of the previous three aspects in a way that facilitates understanding needs and meeting them well)

Without paying attention to all four aspects, you will lack balance and your success will not be complete.

I leave you to read the book yourself, and learn more details about applying this theory, achieving balance, and time management.

Third: Book Forty

The Book of Forty by Ahmed Al-Shugairi. In this book, Ahmed Al-Shugairi summarized his journey over forty years
A journey of constant struggle and progress in search of peace.

He wrote the book during a forty-day retreat where he isolated himself from people and technology, and sat on a remote island with himself, to reflect on what had passed and contemplate what was to come.

He ended with forty thoughts on each of six basic themes:

  • With myself, he presented a summary of his understanding of the divisions of the soul, its conflicts, and how to achieve inner peace.
  • With a Qur’anic book. The writer chose forty verses that influenced the course of his life, and commented on them with his own reflection and thoughts.
  • With My Life, we find in it forty situations from the writer’s life that had a great impact on him, with some wisdom from each situation mentioned.
  • With my improvements, here he put in our hands forty ideas that contributed to improving his life in general, such as being alone, listening to audio books, and a daily gratitude journal.
  • With my equations, and because every human being has a certain perception of life and its various concepts, the writer summarized his understanding of life matters in the form of mathematical equations.
  • With my books, we find here a nomination for forty books that had the greatest impact on the writer’s life, including: (The Forty on the Fundamentals of Religion, Because You Are God, Atomic Habits, A Year Without Sugar, Awaken the Giant Within You.)

Then these topics were followed by five others (With My Stories, With My God, With People’s Wisdom, With My Memories, With My Wisdom), which are closer to various excerpts that can be read in isolation from the content of the book.

In conclusion, I do not want you to just read this article, but rather choose the book that you liked the most and found suitable for you and download it from now, read 10 pages a day and try to stick to this amount and reward yourself after every 50 pages.
Thus, you will take effective steps in the world of reading and get the full benefit from these books.
